JC Santos set to star in the new OFW-themed film ‘The Eventologist’

After Dito at Doon, JC Santos is preparing for his next project in a role that he’s never done before onscreen. In The Eventologist, JC plays the role of a Pinoy events planner based in Doha, Qatar.

“Every time I accept a project sinisigurado ko na hindi ko pa siya nagagawa in my life. So, this is something that I haven’t done. This is my fifth year in the industry so madami pa akong roles na hindi pa na-po-portray. So, this is exciting for me. This is something new for me. It sounded like a challenge to me nung time na binabasa ko siya. At may trabaho yay (laughs),” he said during The Eventologist mediacon held last May 14.

The 32-year-old actor said he is already excited start legwork on the film even though it won’t start shooting until later this year.

“I can’t wait! It’s always been my process to immerse myself especially sa mga ganitong sitwasyon like sa mga OFW kasi I have a lot of questions right now. Kasi matagal pa yung shoot di ba? Ang dami kong tanong.

“I want to know the whole dynamics of the character to the people around him. Kasi OFWs yan eh. Ibang iba yung feeling pag magkakasama na kayo sa ibang bansa and bilang OFW din dati, I think meron akong inkling of how it feels being an OFW, of being outside my comfort zone of being far away from my family. I can’t wait to immerse myself there. Gusto ko nga two weeks before nandiyan ako for more script analysis and I want to get to know the people talk there, papaano ba mag-usap usap ang mga Pinoy sa Qatar.

“Kasi iba sa Hong Kong nun, iba din sa Singapore. Iba yung feeling kapag nandun ka na so I can’t wait to get to know all the people there. Sana nga malapit na ito pero matagal tagal pa so madami pa akong ma-fo-formulate na questions at I think makukulitan si direk sa akin (laughs). Game na game naman ako sa lahat,” he said.

Aside from being a sort of documentary about the Pinoy OFWs in Qatar, JC said the film will also be a story that can inspire others.

“Meron itong story of redemption. It’s an inspirational story so siyempre hindi magiging ganun kaganda yung pelikula kung walang drama ito di ba? Kung paano siya umaangat sa kinatatayuan niya at sa kinalulubugan niya.

“I’m expecting a lot of drama in this one. But I’m sure that I’m going to have a great time doing it kasi masyadong malapit sa puso natin itong nanagyayaring ito eh. Kumbaga maraming posibleng maka-relate sa mga OFW stories at OFW struggles ng mga Pinoy. At yung feeling na malayo tayo sa ating mga comfort zone so I think dun naka deeply rooted yung feelings ng pelikula. So, I’m excited,” he shared.
