After losing her mom Marilyn Cruz to COVID-19 last month, singer Geneva Cruz admitted she is still in mourning. On her Instagram post last May 8, the 45-year-old singer talked about dealing with grief.
She wrote, “Grief is a journey we must experience after the loss of a loved one. It's easy to become overwhelmed as we work through the phases of grief, so it's important to remember to care for ourselves.
“One thing is for sure, ‘We are not alone.’ 🏼 Pray, talk to a family member or a trusted friend, cry and scream if you need to. I express feelings through #music, art, poetry, and writing. Whether you express your grief with a person you trust or let it out in complete privacy, expressing (and accepting) your feelings is the only proper way to honor your grief and begin to work through it. 🏼”
In the same post, Geneva also thanked netizens online who gave her moral support and reached out to those going through the same kind of loss. “To those of you who wrote me on my Facebook page and are going through similar things... Hindi kayo nag-iisa. Hindi tayo nag-iisa. We can help each other by talking about our pain and the memories of the loved ones we just lost. Kaya natin ito. We still have family members who depend on us, and we can still keep our parents’ dreams alive,” she wrote.
Now back to work as a performer on the current season of Your Face Sounds Familiar, Geneva looks forward to being able to work again and gave an advanced Mother’s day greetings to her followers. “Grateful for work. I am back with my @yourfaceph family tonight and tomorrow. Sana manood po kayo kasi nag-hello ako sa inyo. Advance Happy Mother’s Day sa lahat ng mommy! And mama ko.... mahal na mahal kita. Ma-mi miss kita lalo bukas. Hindi man lamang kita malilibre na ng Korean food na paborito nating dalawa.
But I promise to keep the faith that I will one day heal and be whole again,” she said.
