Alexa Ilacad joins the cast of Init Sa Magdamag where she experienced her first lock in taping for a teleserye because of the ongoing pandemic. Last year, she starred in last year’s Star Cinema film Four Sisters Before The Wedding. Alexa admitted she had also experienced the feeling of burnout during this time.
“Honestly yes. I think that’s normal when you get tired, na-bu-burnout. Especially with the new normal, the lock in tapings, my experience is I’m alone. I don’t have a PA. So sometimes it can get tiring. It can get sad honestly. I would segue for a movie tapos Init Sa Magdamag then back and forth so I was alone for a long time and I felt really tired. So every time I get the chance to come home, I really just rest and read the script.
“Thankfully, first time ko maka-experience sa show where the staff, the directors sat down with us going into the finale so it was really intense. they didn’t make us feel pressured at all. They asked, ‘Do you need a day off to just study everything?’ Sobrang na-appreciate ko talaga yun kasi I really needed it. Even if we had very limited time and days to shoot and finish everything, they still gave us that satisfaction. Kasi siyempre pag arte namin yung lalabas sa TV so sana maganda kundi mapapahiya kami, mapapahiya yung show and everything. So I think that really helps and it energizes us as actors na ma-inspire lalo sa ginagawa namin and sa mga scenes to come,” she shared.
The 21-year-old Kapamilya actress describes her role as Gerald Anderson’s younger sister Hannah in Init Sa Magdamag as her most challenging role in her career.
“Because it asked so much of me mentally, physically, emotionally. it asked for everything and talagang na-drain ako but I’m really happy I accepted this role. Yes it is challenging and yes for me it is daring. I’m already 21 so I think it’s about time that I can explore my range in acting and more experience to play more roles.
“My role here is a different kind of daring. It’s not very pa-sexy and all, pero sa acting and sa depth nung character, para sa akin it is daring. Yung naging buhay ni Hannah na nagampanan ko, yung relationship nila ni kuya Ge, I’m excited for people to see and I think ito yung pinaka challenging na nagampanan ko,” she explained.
Before being paired onscreen with Gab Lagman in her latest teleserye, Alexa’s last love team was called “NLex” with Nash Aguas. Their partnership ended in 2018 after a falling out with the actor.
“I’ve always wanted to establish myself na kaya kong umarte mag isa, I can stand on my own. I’ve always tried to show people that I can be an independent actress na hindi kailangan umasa sa love team. I can do it. I can explore other things, do more mature roles, and just like what I have with Gab with this. yung sa NLex before, I didn’t just shake it off just because gusto ko siyang kalimutan. That will always be a part of me I think. People will always remember me na kadugtong nun but I am really trying and working hard as an actress to establish myself on my own,” she added.
