It may have been five years since the drama Scarlet Heart: Goryeo came out, but Lee Joon-gi and IU want to see a second season of the 2016 drama just as much as fans do.
Lee Joon-gi, who marked his birthday recently, got a surprise phone call from IU whom he previously worked with.
Admitting he often gets asked whether or not a production for the second season of Scarlet Heart: Goryeo is possible, Lee Joon-gi admitted the odds are high. He also asked IU if she would be open to appearing in a season two production of the show should it happen.
According to IU, she feels the same way fans do — especially since more people have shown for love for the drama now more than ever.
“I think all of us who filmed the drama probably feel the same way. We had such a great time filming it, and even now, there are so many people who love the drama. Isn’t that amazing?” IU said as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi.
Lee Joon-gi, for his part, said: “Honestly, we never imagined that there would belatedly be so many people all around the world who love it.”
With the show serving as a huge step for the careers of other now-famous actors, she said she could only hope for a reunion right now, saying: “If the conditions are right for us to all gather together, there is no reason not to do it.”
She added: “But if you’re asking me about my opinion only, there is no reason to not do it.” Lee Joon-gi reacted to her answer, saying: “I was afraid you’d say, ‘Why should I?'”
Scarlet Heart: Goryeo followed the story of a woman from the present named Hae-soo taken to the Goryeo Dynasty played by IU and a prince named Wang So played by Lee Joon-gi.
The drama also starred Kang Ha-neul, Baekhyun of EXO, and Nam Joo-hyuk.
IU is known for appearing in dramas such as Dream High, You Are the Best, Bel Ami, The Producers, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, My Mister, Persona, and Hotel del Luna.
Meanwhile, Lee Joon-gi is known for dramas such as My Girl, Iljimae, and Flower of Evil, among others.
