ABS-CBN’s Corporate Communications wants to end speculations that Coco Martin’s top-rated teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano will be ending its run soon and will be releasing an official statement regarding the matter.
Entertainment columnist Ricky Lo also answered rumors about the show’s life span in his most recent Instagram update by quoting an unnamed source from the show’s production who stated that the action-drama series has been extended until July this year, just two months short of its sixth year anniversary.
Ricky Lo’s post reads, “#Tuloy!!! ...FLASH: Coco Martin’s long-running Kapamilya action series ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ has been extended until July this year, just two months short of its 6th anniversary. Got this good news from somebody who is involved in the production. Premiered in Sept. 2015, the series chronicles the exploits of the ‘unkillable’ cop Cardo Dalisay played by Coco. Continue watching it on A2Z and other Kapamilya channels. Right on, Coco!!!”
Ang Probinsyano first aired in the Kapamilya network in 2015 and is based on Fernando Poe Jr.’s iconic 1997 film of the same name. Coco Martin plays the lead role of policeman Cardo Dalisay who continuously seeks justice for everyday citizens.
During the pandemic, the show had to stop production temporarily while the country was on lockdown. Ang Probinsyano resumed taping after the lockdown was lifted last June, with Coco himself doing the ocular inspection for their first lock-in shoot location in Batangas city in July. The latest additions to the cast include Kapamilya stars Jane De Leon.
After the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) cease and desist order in May 2020, Ang Probinsyano’s new episodes have been airing online through the Kapamilya Channel, iWantTFC and YouTube.
