Broadway star Lea Salonga condemned the rising anti-Asian violence in the US anew after an Asian American woman was assaulted in New York City.
On her Twitter page, Lea shared a clip from a surveillance footage of a 65-year-old Asian American woman being physically and verbally attacked by a man while she was on her way to church in the morning.
Reacting to the said clip, Lea tweeted, "Meanwhile... this is still happening. And this is a stone’s throw away from Broadway theaters. My mom would walk to church on her own, feeling totally safe in this city, and I never had to worry about her. I guess those days are over. #StopAsianHate #StopAAPIHate."

Lea shared the close-up shots of the suspect who punched and kicked the victim multiple times as captured in the video.
"This is the suspect. I hope he’s caught and brought to justice. #StopAsianHate #StopAAPIHate," Lea tweeted.
According to ABC7NY reporter CeFaan Kim, the victim is currently in the hospital with swelling to the face and pain in the left leg. NYPD Hate Crimes is currently investigating the incident.
