Dominic Ochoa, hopeful for ABS-CBN’s future: ‘Unti-unti tayong nag-hi-heal’

After working on his new soap Huwag Kang Mangamba, Dominic Ochoa said he couldn’t help but be hopeful for the future of his home network ABS-CBN.

“Nawalan tayo ng istasyon, kinuha sa atin. Maraming nawalan ng trabaho pero dasal lang. And I’m very thankful that I’m seeing na yung mga IG nila, yung mga post nila, every morning I see mga prayers. Unti-unti tayong nag-hi-heal, unti-unti tayong dinadala. Yan yung rason kung bakit tayo nagkaroon ng show na ‘to, itong Huwag Kang Mangamba. Binabalik natin at pinapaalala natin sa ating mga manunuod, not just to entertain but to remind them maybe we should stop and sit down and pray,” he said.

As part of previous soaps that present God as a central figure in its storyline like May Bukas Pa and 100 Days to Heaven, Dominic hopes his latest project can help inspire the younger generation during these tough times.

“Natataon na ginawa ng ABS-CBN ito and I’m very thankful na medyo sensitive ang ABS at ang Dreamscape sa paggawa at pagbuo ng ganitong storya. It’s basically inspiring people to seek the Lord, seek His grace. Marami kasing pangyayari. I got into an accident, I lost a show last year, and then nagkaroon ng pandemic. Parang nag daming pumapasok sa utak mo tapos may (ABS-CBN) shutdown pa tayo. But alam mo, lahat yan dinasal ko and at the end of the day, linuhod ko yan sa Diyos, iniyakan ko yan sa harap ng simbahan. I don’t want to sound preachy but I guess this is my role in life. We’re here to entertain people but we’re here also para ilapit din, we’re being used by the Lord also,” he explained.

With Gold Squad members Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin leading the cast of Huwag Kang Mangamba, Dominic said the show also hopes to educate them on lessons in love, family, and faith in God.

So that’s basically it. Let’s all learn. Sit down.
