The hit K-Drama Crash Landing On You continues to prove its success more than a year since it concluded as a musical adaption of the Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin-starrer is currently in the works.
Good news awaits super fans of the show as a production company called Pop Music is working on a musical adaptation set to be staged in 2022.
Sources claim Pop Music — together with T2N Media — signed global publication rights with Studio Dragon. While further details have yet to be disclosed, reports say the adaptation is set to carry out performances in Seoul in mid-2022.
“We concluded the deal for publication rights with Studio Dragon, and we plan to start choosing the main staff and begin casting. We will do our best to create a good project. In particular, since it’s a project in which the fame of the source IP (intellectual property) is very large, we’ve already received inquiries from many actors and foreign production companies,” said Pop Music CEO Kim Jin-seok, as translated by Soompi.
Crash Landing on You follows the love story of an oddly-matched couple Yoon Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok. Yoon Se-ri, played by Son Ye-jin, is a beautiful heiress and a leading fashion businesswoman and chaebol in South Korea. She then meets North Korean military officer Ri Jeong-hyeok, played by Hyun Bin, when she accidentally crashes into North Korean territory while paragliding following a wind storm.
