Known as PBB Connect’s "Ang Charming Striker ng Parañaque,” Kobie Brown emerged as the show’s third big placer after garnering 3.36% combined votes and winning a cash prize of PHP300,000 during the Big Night live virtual event last March 14. The Fil-British housemate, who hails from Manchester in the UK, said being a housemate taught him a lot of important lessons in life.
“Staying in the house of Kuya it definitely wasn’t easy but it was really fun. I really enjoyed the challenges, even if they were mentally and physically hard. They taught me a lot of things and even though we had a hard time doing a challenge and you feel like you are alone, you are never alone because you have housemates who would always be there for you. It was just a mixture of challenges and fun so I really enjoyed my stay in the house of Kuya. It was challenging because every task that we would have, you would really get tested mentally, physically, emotionally, but at the of the day, you would learn something from each and every task in everything that you do. So, challenging but you learn a lot at the end of everything. You learn a lesson,” Kobie shared during the PBB Connect Big Night mediacon.
Although he has a passion for football, the 17-year-old athlete said he would choose showbiz over sports if given the chance.
“If I was able to get an opportunity, I would definitely grab it. It’s been my dream since I was a kid so if ever I got the opportunity I would. If I got the opportunity to go into showbiz, I would definitely grab the opportunity. But I think I would play sports at the same time, trying to balance it if I could but if I got the opportunity, I would try to take showbiz,” he said.
With netizens supporting his natural chemistry with fellow housemate and Big 4 winner Andrea Abaya, Kobie admitted he does not see himself being paired with anyone else in showbiz right now.
“To be honest, I would pick nobody. I’d just pick Andrea. I feel like I wouldn’t want to pick anyone else except her to be honest. When I first met Andrea, to be honest, we weren’t really that close. We were really shy with each other and we really didn’t talk that much, we were really awkward but as I got to know her better and better, we became super close. So, I’m happy about that,” he explained.
When asked how he would feel to be in a love team with Andrea, Kobie immediately said, “Handang handa ako! (laughs).”
Knowing that part of being in the industry is knowing how to speak Tagalog, Kobie said he will focus on trying to become a more fluent speaker.
“Siyempre naman. I really want to learn more Filipino. I’m definitely going to learn more Tagalog and hopefully I’m going to be fluent soon (laughs). I’m really working hard to learn more Tagalog. I feel like being here in the house, I definitely got to learn more Tagalog. I understand a lot but I’ve never been super confident in speaking it but after this, I really want to learn more Tagalog. Maybe I’m going to get a tutor, I’m going to start talking to my mom more in Tagalog and my sister. So yeah, I really want to be able to speak more Tagalog after this,” he shared.
