The much-anticipated solo album of Rosé from the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK has finally been released.
Entitled "R", the record was released on Friday, March 12, alongside the music video of its lead single "On the Ground."
Aside from "On the Ground," the album also includes the song "Gone," which Rosé debuted during BLACKPINK's online concert "The Show" in January.
In a press conference for her first solo project, Rosé said she had a lot of input while making her album, from the cover to the songwriting.
“Since our fans have waited for it for such a long time, I wanted it to be satisfying,” she said, as quoted in a report by Korea Herald. “I attended a lot of meetings to convey my opinions for the album, from its cover design to my first song writing.”
Rosé, 24, is the second member of BLACKPINK to make her solo debut after Jennie, who released her song "SOLO" in November 2018.
BLACKPINK — also composed of members Jisoo and Lisa — debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment and has since become one of the major players in the K-pop industry. They are known for their hits "Kill This Luv”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, “WHISTLE”, and “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST.”
