Despite the current situation all over the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dingdong Dantes is grateful that he is able to spend a lot of time with his family.
In an interview with host G3 San Diego on Tuesday, March 9, the actor shared what he enjoys most about being a family man in the time of COVID-19.
"For the past 20 years, or even more, palagi akong on the road. Mula noong pumasok ako sa industriya natin, talagang parati akong nagta-trabaho. Umuuwi ako, siguro, isang araw... Dalawang araw, matagal na 'yung dalawang araw. Kung magbabakasyon kami, matagal na 'yung tatlong araw. Parati akong talagang larga nang larga," he said.
"Pero noong nangyari nga ito, as in talagang completely, medyo... wow. Naramdaman ko 'yung pagiging isang full-time father, full-time member of the family. Not just my immediate family but also 'yung mommy ko, daddy ko, mga kapatid ko. Sabi ko nga, I'm kinda liking this. Medyo wala akong masyadong commitments pero I get to spend time [with my loved ones]," he continued.
According to Dingdong, he is most thankful for the opportunity to witness his children grow.
"Kasi 'yung chapter na 'to ng buhay nila is very, very important. Kailangan masamahan mo sila rito sa development stage na 'to. Nung nag-start 'yung pandemic, 'yung anak kong lalaki hindi pa gumagapang tapos ngayon tumatalon na, nagma-monkey bar," he said.
"Nagpapasalamat ako na I was able to witness these milestones. But, of course, sana hindi nangyari sa ganitong klaseng context. But I'm still grateful. I couldn't complain," he added.
Dingdong, 40, is married to actress Marian Rivera. The couple marked their sixth wedding anniversary last December.
They have two kids—Maria Letizia or Zia, 5, and Jose Sixto or Ziggy, 1.
In the same conversation with G3, Dingdong also opened up about his children.
"Si Zia sobrang bibo. Alam ko 'yung nanay niya ganun, pero iba talaga," he said.
"Minsan nga alam mo nung wala pa 'kong anak, tinatanong ko, so 'yung personality ba nung bata ay nade-develop dahil sa pagpapalaki o ganun na talaga? So ngayon na nandyan silang dalawa, makikita mo na very different sila pareho. Although same naman siyempre 'yung aming mga rules dito pero iba, magkaiba sila," he added.
Meanwhile, when asked whether he and Marian are planning to have more kids, Dingdong had a ready answer.
"Definitely. We want more," he said.
