EXCLUSIVE: Bicol’s YouTube Sensation Nonoy Peña shares his dream collaborations

With more than 270,000 subscribers on YouTube, Bicol’s YouTube Sensation Nonoy Peña is ready for more opportunities as he signed a contract with recording company Ivory Music & Video.Popular for his song covers online, Nonoy detailed how he began his music journey in an exclusive interview with Push.“I started singing at a very young age. My mama told me that I used to hum [to] the sound of music when I was only two years old. Years later, with the help of my sisters, they trained me eagerly as we sing together [during] videoke [where] we do harmonies,” he said, adding that they also encouraged him to join singing contests so he would be exposed to crowds and earn confidence in singing.Years later, Nonoy narrated that he met producer Tel Santiano, and they began doing demos and jingles until 2015. They then released his very first album, which consisted of Bicolano songs. Considering it a huge success, Nonoy said it brought him great opportunities, and by 2016, he became active in uploading cover songs on YouTube and Facebook.“That time, I was able to learn how to record songs and produce cover songs on my own. Fast forward, I became a talent of my current talent management agency, ‘Creative Concept and Style,’ and in November 2020, I got signed to a record label and became an official recording artist of Ivory Music and Videos Inc., formerly Ivory records,” he told Push.Nonoy said that it was in the middle of the pandemic last year when he was offered an exclusive recording contract with Ivory. He said that he, together with his family and talent agency, is “very thankful because despite the pandemic and natural disasters, an opportunity is there with me.”“I am very much overwhelmed especially when we already signed our contract with Ivory. This milestone in my career won't happen without my supporters, family, friends, my manager, Ivory Music and Videos, and of course God above all.”Now part of a new company, Nonoy said that he is looking forward to two things – to fulfill his dreams of becoming a successful recording artist and concert performer, and to achieve career growth with Ivory, the record company who discovered and believed in him. “I am very thankful to my Ivory family most especially to our bosses: Sir Steven Tan - our president, Sir Jeff Joson - our EVP, Sir Jon - our Production Consultant, and of course my Ivory Team Nonoy,” he added.When asked for his dream collaborations, he mentioned local artists Bugoy Drilon, Maja Salvador, and MYMP. He is also “not closing [his] door as well to international singers like Mariah Carey, Brandy, Charlie Puth and many more.”Last January 29, Nonoy released his latest cover song – Shania Twain’s You’re Still The One. It’s now available in all digital music stores and online platforms.
