During her guesting on Maja Salvador’s Meet Maja YouTube channel in the vlog called “USAPANG PUSO with @Love Marie Escudero” posted last February 20, Heart Evangelista Escudero shared anecdotes about her life as well as advice on different love matters as sent in by Maja’s followers.
During her younger years, Heart shared how she fell for former love team partner John Prats during their teenage years.
“Nung M.U, M.U ako, si John Prats, super habol ako. Mukha akong tanga. Ang panget panget ko tuloy tignan kasi kahit gaano kaganda yung babae, pag wala siyang self-worth or habol siya ng habol na alam mong lagi lang andiyan, iti-take mo siya for granted. Until one day sabi ko, ‘I think I’m going to sit still, hayaan ko silang magkagulo, magmamaganda lang ako.’” she shared.
Now that she is married to Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, Heart said she has matured a lot when it comes to relationships.
“Depende. Siguro nung mas bata ako, ganyan. Especially since artista tayo parang you’re legally cheating on each other by kissing other people di ba? So mahirap siya intindihin. Pero naisip ko parang tatanda ako diyan sa kakaselos at saka hindi siya nakakaganda. Now I am with somebody who is mature, who’s very wise. So parang it’s all about reassurance. He was married before, he has two kids so it’s really hard to understand especially napaka-immature ko noon. Pero now I feel na I’m different and mas nakakaganda talaga yung confident ka,” she said.
The 36-year-old actress also admitted she was the jealous type before. “Kami ni Chiz, well dati clingy ako. Gusto ko lagi kaming magkasama. Pero dahil napaka-busy niya, nasanay din ako. Pero usually talaga, every week usually mga three or four days siyang wala. So hati yung week niya sa akin at saka doon sa family niya siyempre. Okay lang din yun kasi I’m thankful na hindi siya yung mahigpit kasi nagiging productive ako and nagiging productive din siya,” she explained.
When she was younger, Heart admitted she did not hold back when it comes to love. In the past, she dated co-actors Jericho Rosales and Daniel Matsunaga.
“Nung 21 years old ako pinagpalit ang lahat para sa love. Ewan ko ba anong nangyari sa akin. Ang hirap. Hindi lang naman siya sakit, masaya din siya. Masakit siya because may mga kailangan ka aralin sa sarili mo na, ‘Babaguhin ko ba ‘to?’ Kaya ko ba i-take ito?’ Kumbaga barometer ang love. Dun mo nakikilala at dun na-de-develop yung character mo as a person. Ibang klase din nagagawa ng love sa life. So whether it was good or it was bad, all is fair in love and war. Love for yourself wins at the end of the day. Kasi kung hindi ko napagdaanan lahat ng pinagdaanan ko, baka hindi rin ako worthy na makasama yung asawa ko ngayon na napakabuti rin niya. So it all makes sense in the end,” she explained.
During her interview with Maja, Heart also admitted she did not seek closure from any of her ex-boyfriends.
“It’s funny kasi hindi ako confrontational. So may mga tao in my past na never ako nagka-closure. Well the circumstances din, never na kami nakapagkita. So ’til years and years never. Pero in a way okay na naman din na walang closure. Of course closure is important. But sometimes it’s really also up to you. Kasi minsan okay naman yung pinagsamahan niyo so iwanana na natin na magandang memories siya. Kasi baka pag may closure may masabi pa. So okay na yun. Ang importante sinuklian ka naman ni Lord ng magandang buhay after that relationship. I think it’s just important to remember the good times that we had together because not everybody gets to experience that,” she said.
Although she has never experienced falling out of love with a partner, Heart said her experience in showbiz has taught her how to keep a peaceful mind.
“Ako grabe ako mag-overthink, grabe din yung anxiety ko eh. Lately nakalma na ako. Minsan pag gabi huwag ka na mag-social media kasi yung output ng lahat ng tao, kahit hindi mo na-da-digest, unconsciously pumapasok siya sa utak mo. So nagiging busy yung utak mo. Actually, mahilig ako magbasa ng mga The Daily Bread, ganyan, pampakalma. Tapos chill lang ulit kasi nakakatanda yung overthinking. Kahit mahirap iwasan, you really have to fight it. Lalo na ngayong pandemic wala naman tayong mapuntahan. And surround yourself with good people kasi natatanggal nila yung utak mo sa pag-iisip sa mga issues,” she shared.
