CL penned a heartwarming message for her fans following the death of her mom.
Sharing a photo of herself with her mom, CL thanked her fans whom she said gave her light during what she described as a dark hour in her life.
“Thank you for giving me light during one of the most difficult times of my life, with all of your kind words and the outpour of love.”
An inspiration to the K-Pop singer, CL said she will always carry with her what her mom taught her when she was still alive.
“My mother, the bravest, selfless, and [most] giving person I know will continue to live on through me with everything she has taught me.”

CL’s mom passed away last January due to a heart attack, her agency — Team Very Cherry — confirmed through a press release.
“CL’s mother, Hong Yoo Ra, who was living abroad at the time, passed away due to a heart attack at age 53 on January 23. The funeral will take place for three days starting February 10 and the burial will take place on February 12,” the statement wrote as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi.
The statement went on: “Due to the COVID-19 situation, the funeral will be held quietly with only family and close friends in attendance.”
“Please send CL messages of comfort and encouragement. May the deceased rest in peace. Thank you.” the statement continued.
CL debuted as part of 2NE1 in 2009. In 2015, she moved to the US to pursue a solo career — teaming up with foreign acts such as Diplo and Lil Yachty and going on tours across North America.
CL also made her Hollywood debut as an actress back in 2018 through the action-thriller film Mile 22 starring Mark Walhberg.
Three years after 2NE1’s disbandment, CL parted ways with YG Entertainment and released her solo EP “In The Name of Love.”
Meanwhile, fellow 2NE1 member Dara is busy releasing vlogs on YouTube. She recently celebrated a milestone as she reached one million subscribers on YouTube.
Composed of Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy, 2NE1 debuted under YG Entertainment in 2009. The group released successful hits such as “I Am The Best,” “COME BACK HOME,” and “FIRE.”
Considered as one of the most successful female K-Pop groups to achieve global success, 2NE1 disbanded in 2016.
