Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas celebrated the birthday of their twins Pepe and Pilar who turned two years old recently.
On Instagram, Korina shared a short clip of their celebration at home.
"My twins’ lockdown 2nd birthday was super simple but so meaningful and happy for all of us," she wrote.
Korina shared what they prepared for their birthday.
"Just family around, lotsa balloons, 2 small cakes (thank you Tita Florabel) spaghetti and barbecue and they’re GOOOOD. We also danced to VST & Company," she posted.
"Goes to show we need not have too grand an event to make children happy," she added.
Korina embarked on her journey as a parent when Pepe and Pilar were born in 2019 via gestational surrogacy in the United States.
Prior to that she had her embryos frozen.
“We weren’t married yet (pertaining to Mar Roxas) when we decided to freeze our embryos, before my biological clock stopped ticking. It was just a matter of when we were ready to start a family. But that time couldn’t be found for years. We were both always so very busy," she said in an interview with Philippine Star back in 2019.
It was in 2016 when they started tapping experts in the US for the process of surrogacy.
“They already know who to put together. They’ve worked with these surrogates, medical experts, lawyers, and caregivers for a long time. I found them after trying for years with a facility in India and it just went too slow. Until this other group based in the US was recommended to me by a friend who also had a good experience and successful surrogacy with them,” she shared.
