Whenever people hear the name Heart Evangelista, one of the things that come to mind would be rich. But did you know that she once struggled financially despite coming from a wealthy family?
Heart recently sat down with Aivee Teo for an interview that allowed fans to get to know her more as a person. Here, Heart recalled what she had to go through in the past to make ends meet.
According to Heart, she decided to take on the challenging role of Carissa de Leon in the 2007 ABS-CBN teleserye Hiram Na Mukha because it was around that time when she left her parents' house after getting on bad terms with them.
Heart said: “I had to do this because I had no money at that time. It was super torture.” She added: “That was when I left my parents. It was my first time around so I had to start from scratch. Change lifestyle din ako.”
Recalling what she had gone through such as wearing fake skin until 3 in the morning, Heart said it came to a point when she almost wanted to quit.
“Super prosthetics. Hirap kumita ng pera,” she said. “I called my manager. I can’t do this anymore,’” she remarked.
But the worst came when her assistant paid for her dinner because she only had 30 pesos left in her ATM card.
“Si Ate Resty nang-libre sa’kin sa restaurant dahil wala akong pera,” she said.
Sharing how the experience brought her back to her mother’s arms, she said: “My mom really wanted me to suffer so I’d go back to her. So talagang from all that comfort to nothing.”
