After working together in previous TV and movie projects like A Love to Last, Ilawod, and Bliss, Ian Veneracion said he and Iza Calzado have never really lost touch even though it’s been four years since their last project together.
“Hindi naman kami matagal na hindi nag-work kasi lagi kaming nagkaka-work together. We message each other so updated kami sa mga buhay buhay namin. So walang feeling na matagal kaming hindi nagkita or anything and parang kilalang kilala na niya ako, kilalang kilala ko na siya and pag nag-work kami together it’s just very exciting for me,” he shared during the B&B: The Story Of The Battle Between Brody & Brandy press launch held last February 12.
With a career that has spanned decades since he started out in showbiz as a child actor, Ian said one of his favorite moments onscreen is with Iza.
“We did a scene together and it was one of my favorite scenes of all time sa A Love to Last na naghihiwalay kami kasi it felt so real and it couldn’t be more real than that nun ginagawa namin yung scene. So yun I’m always excited to work with her kasi nga I know I’m in good hands. I trust the actor I’m working with and just go with the flow because you know you’re in good hands,” he recalled.
The 46-year-old actor also explains why he and Iza have this natural chemistry onscreen regardless if they are doing heavy drama or horror. “Matagal na kaming nagtatrabaho playing different parts and sa iba ibang genre. Kumbaga sa kasayaw mo, yung ibang mga sayaw nasubukan na namin so parang more or less alam niya yung gagawin ko lagi. Parang nababasa ko din yung gagawin niya. Parang ganun. Sometimes she would do something to throw me off guard and I would also do that to her. We just react to each other. I think sometimes that’s where the magic happens,” he explained.
Contrary to her serious roles in the past, Ian reveals that Iza is actually perfect for doing rom-coms. “Ang sarap (gumawa) ng romantic comedy kasi with her, lagi siyang mabigat na eksena. Tapos dito lang natin nakikita yung light moments niya. Napakakulit niyang tao. Napakadaldal, napaka-bubbly. So ang sarap lang ipakita yung side ni Iza Calzado na ganun ka-light. Meron kaming isang eksena where I had to carry her and I was hoping that pagbuhat ko sa kanya dadayain lang niya ng konti. Talagang binigay niya. Sabi ko, ‘Whoa!’ So nakadantay yung buong katawan niya sa akin. Tingnan mo kaya pa ng likod kong buhat siya (laughs),” he shared.
