After performing in his first digital concert New Normal last year, Jed Madela shared that he has still been keeping safe by not going out too much during the pandemic.
“Hindi naman kami pumupunta ng mall or kung saan saan para tumambay. Kung kailangan mong pumunta dun, mag-pullout or something. Pero it’s okay na maging OA or maging praning kasi you’re doing it for everybody’s safety din. Mas okay na din yun kesa maging pabaya di ba? We still have to live our lives. Kumbaga hindi puwedeng just because na nasa pandemya tayo ititigil na antin lahat, hindi naman puwedeng ganun. Keep going on as long as you do the protocols, you do the safety measures, and be aware and not just think of yourself. Think of the people around you,” he said during the Hearts on Fire concert presscon last February 10.
The talented singer, who will be performing in a back-to-back concert with Juris Fernandez in Hearts On Fire: Juris and Jed digital concert on February 13, admitted he has never really made plans for Valentine’s day even before the pandemic.
“Hindi ako nag-date, hindi ako nakalabas talaga ng Valentine’s kasi it’s all work so yun siguro yun yung naging effect, naging normal na work day for me. Walang plans eh kasi ako sobrang praning ko talaga lumabas. I think I’ll just stay home and probably prepare something here at home and do some virtual get-together with my loved ones together, whoever is available on that day. Ang corny ko di ba? (laughs) So yun lang siguro, virtual dinner lang siguro dito sa bahay. Yun lang yung plans ko,” he shared.
After his digital concert last June, Jed said he misses being able to perform in front of his fans and seeing their reactions to his songs.
“It’s a huge adjustment and kasi siyempre ako personally when I perform, I get my energy and kumbaga yung life force ko sa reactions ng audience and now that we are performing to a camera and just a couple of people, malaking adjustment talaga. Yung tipong after ng kanta mo walang applause, walang pumapalakpak kasi di ba walang tao. It’s a different feeling pero siguro after a year of doing it for almost every time, nasasanay ka na rin. I guess it’s the artist in you that you still have to imagine na lang na people will watch you, people will still see you online. So twice the effort isya but of course iba pa rin yung live performance na may tao, may mga nanunuod sa ‘yo and you get instant reactions. So it’s a huge adjustment talaga,” he said.
