Currently playing the role of Ronnie Alonte’s mom in the new iWanTFC digital series Unloving U, Gelli de Belen admitted she enjoyed working with Ronnie and his leading lady-real-life girlfriend Loisa Andalio in the original series.
“Kung hindi mo titingnan at ifo-focus ang attention mo sa kanilang dalawa, hindi mo talaga mapapansin na talagang sila but it’s when they are qiuet and on the side, dun mo mararamdaman yung konting nuances na sila pa. I was more of looking at the younger kids and observing kung papaano sila dahil alam niyo naman been there, done that so tinitingnan ko kung paano sila. And you know what’s nice with them is even if they’re working together, kasi minsan ang problema sa ganyan, I’m sure all of you know ang nangyayari pag nag-away lagot. Kapag may problema damay lahat. Pero sila talaga they’re very professional. Pag tinawag mo ang isa, andiyan na sila kahit hindi mo pa tawagin ng dalawang beses. They’re always prepared and I appreciated that. Sometimes kasi when you’re working with somebody your very, very comfortable with, you let go of a lot of things but they were on their toes and I appreciated that,” she shared.
Being married to her Unloving U co-star and real-life husband Ariel Rivera, Gelli said it is more than just about love.
“Siguro I’m coming from somewhere na 23 years ng kasal kaya nasasabi ko ito pero for them as young as them, sakto sa akin na nag-re-respetuhan sila at they trust each other. Eventually everything will follow as long as you really work at it. It never ends. Walang happy ending pagkatapos ng kasal. Kailangan pinagtratrabahuan mo talaga yung relationship,” she said.
The 47-year-old actress shared what relationship advice worked for her and Ariel through the years. “Ang sakto lang kasi na you find somebody who is best for you, who brings out the best in you. So if you find na one of these days na parang mabigat, lumalabas ang kasamaan ng ugali, parang dapat mag-isip isip ka, ano ba ang nangyayari? Respect is such a big deal. Of course you love each other pero if you do not respect each other, if you don’t trust each other then all that love is useless. You have to be able to willing to give it your all and not expect anything in return. Yung sinasabi nilang unconditional love, hindi yun cliche, totohanin mo yun. Kasi pag mahal mo ang isang tao ibibigay mo lahat,” she explained.
For this coming Valentine’s day, Gelli encouraged Pinoys to celebrate regardless if they are in a relationship or not.
“Kailangan nating gawan ng impact. there’s always room for celebration when it comes to love. Dumaan man ang pandemya, dumaan man ang war, kailangan nating bigyan ng space ang pag-celebrate ng pag-ibig. It doesn’t have to be a romantic love, just love yourself. I-celebrate mo na mahal mo sarili mo, i-celebrate mo ang possibility na puwede kang magkaroon ng romantic love one of these days. We should always find an excuse to celebrate love,” she explained.
