After her film Midnight in a Perfect World had its world premiere at the QCinema International Film Festival last year where it became the festival’s highest grossing film, Glaiza de Castro said she was not surprised by the outcome because of the very compelling storyline.

“Kaya rin sobra akong na-curious at naging interested sa story kasi it’s something that I haven’t read before and I haven’t done before. So there’s nothing more horrible than that right?

In the film, Glaiza plays the role of an independent woman named Jinka. “Isa lang talaga yung word na naiisip ko when I think about her or if I’m going to describe her, she’s like an enigma. Kasi compared to the rest of the cast siya lang yung walang connection.

After getting engaged abroad last December, Glaiza also shared how it felt to be quarantined when she arrived in Manila last month. The talented singer-actress said the experience is giving her a glimpse of what it must felt to be under martial law which is a theme in the film.

Kakapanganak pa lang nun sa akin pero while we were doing it, kung ano yung mga narinig kong stories before about it, ayun yung parang na-experience ko sa pelikula. While we were doing it, yun yung na-experience ko. Sobrang horrible nun. Buti na lang I don’t have to deal with the time difference anymore. Nasa Manila na ako. I just got back from the UK. Kailangan ko lang mag-deal sa jetlag ko (laughs),” she said.

After having spent most of the lockdown in the province last year, Glaiza said she really made sure to adhere to the curfew, unlike her character in the film. Of course, nakakatakot kasi may mga kakilala ako na nag-exceed lang ng 10 minutes, nahuli sila at kinulong sila overnight without food tapos pinag-community service sila tapos pinagbayad pa sila. So, it’s something na ayokong mangyari sa akin,” she revealed.

Despite the many physical scenes, she and her co-stars Jasmine Curtis Smith, Dino Pastrano, and Anthony Falcon had to do in the film, Glaiza says it was more of a mental challenge.

Midnight in a Perfect World is now available for streaming worldwide through UPSTREAM.ph until February 29, 2021.
