Promoting mental health awareness was the main goal of indie-pop collective Ben&Ben in creating their newest single "Lunod."

The song was released as part of the OPM band's sophomore album, Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwarderno. It featured vocals by artists Zild and juan karlos, and talks about their own struggles with mental health.

"Ang mensahe na gusto namin i-share sa pamamagitan ng 'Lunod' ay mental health ay mahalaga," said one of the band's vocalists, Paolo Guico, in the podcast PUSH Bets Live!

"Ang mental health ay isang laban na hindi mo kailangang tahakin mag-isa. Napakalayo pa ng kailangan nating marating sa usapan ng mental health pero sa dulo ng kanta, tinapos namin 'yung kanta na 'Lunod' sa katagang ''Di na muling malulunod pa.'"

Paolo said they wanted to give hope to those who are battling mental health issues especially at a time where many are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Nais naming magbigay ng pag-asa sa lahat na ano man 'yung paraan mo para marating 'yun, naniniwala kaming darating ka sa punto na hindi ka na malulunod sa mga pangamba mo, sa mga thoughts mo at sa mga fears mo," he said.

In the podcast, Ben&Ben also talked about using music not just to connect with their fans, but to promote their own causes as a band and create impact on society. They recalled being inspired to take action towards helping healthcare workers and other frontliners who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic during its height last year.

"During that time, throwing it back, I think March of last year, 'di pa ata kami nag-move in noon as a band. Nasa kanya kanyang bahay [pa kami] kasi 'yun 'yung simulang simula pa lang ng pandemya. Then of course, like every one else, we were afraid. There was a lot of fear as to anong next sa atin, anong mangyayari in the next days, weeks, and months. Pero when we thought deeply about it, bago ka mapangunahan ng takot, ang naisip namin, buti nga tayo nasa bahay tayo, samantalang may mga tao na nasa ospital at sila talaga 'yung...frontliners. Sila 'yung unang sumagupa nitong challenge na hinarap ng buong mundo," said Miguel Guico, another one of the band's frontmen.

"So bilang kaming mga nasa bahay, ang naisip namin, anong pwede nating gawin. Silang may pinaka-kailangan ng tulong, paano natin sila matutulungan? At syempre, doing what we do, what we're called to do in our lives, which is to create and play music, we thought of using music as a way to help these frontliners. And that's why 'yun muna 'yung una naming ginawa nung panahon ng pandemya."

The band acknowledged that it wouldn't be possible without the help of everyone who supported their causes, saying, "Community effort talaga po siya eh, looking back at what happened last year. And even until the months to come, even until today, people are still out there to help our frontliners because it's a battle that is continuously being faced."
