Showbiz veteran Sharon Cuneta has finally reunited with Pawi, the stray dog she fell in love with during the shoot of her movie in Olongapo City and later decided to adopt.
The actress, a known dog lover, shared the happy news in her post on Instagram on Monday, December 20.
Sharing photos of herself with her new pet, Sharon wrote: "Guess who’s home?!!! My Pawiboy!!! Just in time for Christmas.
"He is now at our vet’s clinic and when he’s given the go-signal and has rested a bit, he’s coming home to meet his fur-brothers and sisters. His bed is ready and waiting. We are all so excited!!!
She then shared a series of video clips showing Pawi enjoying his new home with his new family and "fur siblings".
In one clip, Sharon explained why it took several months before Pawi was able to come home to her in Manila.
"He's about nine or 10, maybe older. He has a problem with his kidney but not so bad. Took him a while to come home because he had liver problems. Now that's, thank God, finished. But his kidney is not as perfect as we would like it to be but it's okay," she shared, before turning to Pawi and saying, "It's okay, baby. I got you."
It was in March this year when Sharon first posted about the "aspin" (asong Pinoy) she found at a beach resort in Olongapo while filming scenes for Revirginized, her movie with Rosanna Roces and Marco Gumabao.
"Ito po yung Aspin na pinapahanap ko sa Olongapo, sa saradong beach resort na set namin ko siya nakita. Sana talaga inuwi ko na siya. Napakasweet. May sakit sa balat at halos sumara na mga mata sa muta. Baka may makakilala sa inyo sa Olongapo. Malambing ang asong ito sa akin di ko makalimutan. Sana makita siya," Sharon said at the time.
Later, she announced that she has decided to adopt the dog after someone from the city found and rescued him.
"They found you, my doggie that was meant to be mine!" she wrote in her previous post. "I could never stop thinking about you and now I cannot wait to hold you and love you the way you have always deserved to be!"
"When you walked up to me and I patted your head, then you rubbed your face so very gently and lovingly on my leg, you seemed like you wanted me to take you home with me. And now, after the great vets there are done treating you, you are coming HOME to me!"
At the time, the actress promised to love and take good care of Pawi, saying he will be treated like a prince and "be loved like [he's] never been loved before."
"They say you are about 8 years old... Oh, what life must have made you go through! You are safe now, baby boy. Mama’s here now and I will love you. I will make the rest of your years happy and you will NEVER have to search or beg for food again or a place to sleep where you would feel safe. Never have to panic to seek shelter from the rain and other elements," she said.
"I love you. I fell in love with you the moment we met and I should have brought you home right then. But all will be well now. All IS well now! I cannot wait to see you again and this time hold you and love you!" she added.
