After watching them play the role of an estranged couple who are the parents of Paulo Avelino’s character in the primetime series Marry Me, Marry You, fans of Edu Manzano and Cherry Pie Picache were delighted to find out that the veteran stars actually ended up dating in real life. Currently in the US enjoying a vacation together, Cherry Pie recently shared sweet photos of her and Edu enjoying a cruise on a yacht in Florida last week.
Edu’s eldest son Luis Manzano recently shared his reaction to his dad’s new romance. The 40-year-old host and actor admitted during an interview with Live with G3 host G3 San Diego that he and his wife Jessy Mendiola were shocked when they first found out about the news.
“We were caught off guard. Talagang no one saw it coming. I don’t even think dad and tita Pie saw it coming. I think a friend of mine took a picture with them tapos he sent me a picture. He was with daddy and tita Pie. Date night yata sila. So I sent the picture back to daddy. I said, ‘Uy daddy, ano ah, happy boy ka.’ Sabi niya, ‘Yes anak, happing happy.’ parang ganun, ” he recalled.
Always one with a candid sense of humor, Luis poked fun at his dad’s real-life love team pairing. “Kunwari lang next year, we’re hoping and praying na kung maibabalik ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN, feeling ko baka si Daddy at saka si Tita Pie, baka itapat sa KathNiel. Ganun (laughs),” he joked.
In their Live with G3 interview, Luis gave credit to his dad for being a good example to him growing up on how to be a respectful and caring partner.
“It would boil down to the same thing, kung paano nirerespeto ang kanyang kasama. You know, that’s one thing na nakikita ko kay Daddy and how he takes care of his partner talaga. And nakikita ko rin naman how happy he is with Tita Pie, In fact trivia, my very first teleserye Kampanerang Kuba, to some degree yung character, parang stepmom ko dun si tita Pie. So ang galing lang di ba?” he shared.
While vacationing in the US, Edu and Cherry Pie have spent time hanging out with fellow celebrities like Arci Muñoz and Janine Gutierrez in New York City before meeting up with friends in Florida.
