After working with a younger cast in Star Cinema’s Metro Manila Film Festival entry Love At First Stream, Agot Isidro said it was a fun and refreshing experience for her.
“It’s a shot parang pati kami buma-bagets, ganun (laughs). Parang fountain of youth na na-ta-transfer sa amin (laughs). Ako dito si Rosario, yung mommy ni Vilma (Daniela Stranner) and Gabby (Igi Boy Flores). Nagkukumahog to make ends meet habang dinidisiplina yung mga bata tapos pandemic so palagi siyang stressed. Actually masaya yung bahay namin eh. Masaya yung shoot kasi masaya yung bahay, masaya yung characters namin, nakakatawa, palaging may punchline,” she said during the Love At First Stream mediacon last December 14.
Having worked with director Cathy Garcia-Molina before, Agot said she and co-star Daniela who plays her daughter in the film really worked hard to make their scenes even more effective.
“Prior to the sequences na tinake namin na mother-daughter and family scenes, si direk Cathy shared that this is her love letter to generations especially to her daughter. Iba yung generation na iba eh tapos may pandemya pa. Tapos traditional na nanay dito na gumagawa ng longganisa tapos meron siyang dreamer na anak na online doon kumikita so parang hindi niya ma-gets. But then eventually all these misunderstandings opens up to kailangan mag-usap, kailangan intindihin ang isa’t isa. Tapos mangibabaw pa rin talaga yung pagmamahal. So ang ganda nung tali kasi andun yung generational divide plus the pandemic plus the problema na ganyan. Pero it’s tied in a neat bow after, parang ganun.
“It was nice doing the scenes kasi very close to direk Cathy. So kami ni Daniela kailangan galingan namin ito kasi love letter ito ni direk Cathy sa mga anak niya. May pressure but it was very rewarding to do. Matagal na kaming magkatrabaho ni direk pero every time na-cha-challenge pa rin ako sa kanya. Sa 30 years kong ito ah, challenged pa rin ako kay direk. I love it though,” she admitted.
When asked to share her thoughts on whether the younger generation of actors have it easier than the years before, Agot said she thinks they will need to work extra hard to stand out among their batch.
“Hindi sila lucky in a sense na marami sila ngayon eh. So they will need to be super mas competitive. Plus may pandemic na nangyari so parang siguro before the pandemic alam ko parang they were about to be launched tapos natigil. So I think mas mahirap actually for them now to prove their worth. Mas madaming trabaho for them. that’s what I think,” she explained.
Featuring an original soundtrack from P-pop supergroup SB19 titled “No Stopping You,” the Star Cinema and Kumu co-production Love At First Stream premieres on December 25 along with other MMFF entries this year. Starring Daniela Stranner, Kaori Oinuma, Anthony Jennings, Jeremiah Lisbo, Agot Isidro, Pinky Amador. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
