Maria Sophia Campo Atayde, also known as Ria Atayde, is the daughter of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez.
Ria started her showbiz career via the ABS-CBN TV series Ningning where she played the role of Teacher Hope.
It was then followed by a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode titled “Puno ng Mangga,” which made her win the Best Female New TV Personality award at the 2016 PMPC Star Awards for TV.
Aside from being seen on TV, she also made an appearance in the movie Can We Still Be Friends? which also starred Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz.
In the 2017 series My Dear Heart, she played the role of Dra. Gia Divinagracia Lana.
Ria also starred in the primetime series Halik alongside actors Jericho Rosales, Yen Santos and Yam Concepcion.
After the success of Halik, she became part of the TV mini series titled High for iWant.
After that, Ria continued to wow us with her acting skills as she played the role of Janelle in the 2019 series Parasite Island.
During the same year, she also starred in a mini TV series for iWant titled Manilennials.
In 2020, she portrayed a role for the documentary show Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan hosted by Judy Ann Santos.
Currently, fans can watch Ria Atayde through the primetime series Viral Scandal, alongside Charlie Dizon and Joshua Garcia.
In this project, Ria plays the role of a legal defender for the character of Charlie who is a victim of a viral video in their town of Sidero.
“Ako dito si attorney Lara Dizon who is the friend of mayor Troy Ramones (Jake Cuenca) who comes in for the legal side of our story., the lawyer of Rica Sicat (Charlie Dizon) and also a good friend of mayor Troy Ramones. Basta basically I symbolize another aspect of women empowerment which is something that we try to drive throughout the series. Of course I’m super excited. We’ve been working on this for so many months and we’ve built like a little family here already and we’re so happy all the time. It’s something that we really enjoyed working on and I’m really excited to see everybody enjoy it as well,” she said in an interview.
