K-Pop star CL could not help but be emotional when she recalled how she learned about the disbandment of 2NE1 through the media.
In an interview with AP Entertainment, CL shared, "I was at a Thanksgiving dinner and my phone blew up. But yeah, like those situations… That was very heartbreaking for me.”
2NE1 was disbanded in November 2016. Composed of CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy, the group had its debut in 2009.
Despite what transpired, CL still sees things with a silver lining now that she is a solo artist.
"Now I have a lot of freedom and control over at least what I choose to do. So it’s a very exciting chapter for me," she said.
In the same interview, CL talked about her experience releasing her new album Alpha under her very own label Very Cherry.
"I'm happy to be creating everything in general and reconnecting with my fans and to have my album and to have the freedom to create," she said.
On the pressure of releasing new music under her label, she said, "I have been working with the same people for 13 years so to get out of that comfort zone and to learn how it works and to create a new team and meet new people, it's all exciting and a lot at the same time. Lots of learning to do."
