Andi Eigenmann and her partner Philmar Alipayo took to social media to ask for prayers and help for their home province of Siargao which was slammed by typhoon Odette on Thursday, December 16.
The couple was in Manila when the typhoon landed back on the island.
On her Instagram page, Andi wrote, "24 hrs and still sitting at the edge of our seats. We left our home, our loved ones - @chepoxz parents, relatives, our family and our friends. Please Lord let them be safe. Please pray for Siargao."
Andi also shared the post of non-governmental organization (NGO) Lokal.Lab on how to donate in cash and in kind to give aid to those who are affected by the typhoon on the island.
Meanwhile, Philmar shared clips and photos of the island prior to the landfall of the typhoon. Even before the landfall, the typhoon's impact on the island was already apparent.
"Bali na kahoy sa front amo balay. Pag amping kamo tanan ditun sa isla (Bali na 'yung kahoy sa front ng bahay namin. Mag-ingat kayo diyan lahat sa isla)," Philmar posted on his Instagram page before the landfall.
Typhoon Odette made its first landfall on Siargao Island at 1:30 pm on Thursday according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Following the typhoon, Philmar shared a status update about the island on Friday, December 17, saying that all communication lines on the island are now down.
"We are requesting the Philippine Coast Guard and the Armed Forces of the Philippines to commission a flight by chopper or plane to Siargao to establish communications in order to get an update and assessment of the situation after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. We will give you an update the soonest possible time," said the Siargao status update that Philmar posted.
