Actress Kylie Padilla took to social media to celebrate the birthday of her youngest son, Axl Romeo.
"Happy birthday my little man. Mama loves you. I hope to always make you laugh. You make mama’s world so much more colourful. My little sunshine," she wrote in her post on Thursday, December 9.
Axl, who turned 2, is Kylie's son with her estranged husband, hunky actor Aljur Abrenica.
They also have another son, Alas Joaquin, who is now four years old.
Kylie and Aljur had been married for more than two years before rumors of their separation surfaced in February.
Kylie's father, Robin Padilla, eventually confirmed their split in an interview with host Ogie Diaz in July. At the time, the action star claimed that a third party, particularly on the side of Aljur, had caused the couple's separation.
However, in a scathing statement he posted on Facebook months later, Aljur insinuated that it was Kylie who first committed infidelity during their marriage. The actress denied this, saying she couldn't claim responsibility for a mistake she didn't do.
Following the controversy surrounding their split, Kylie happily shared that she and and Aljur have patched things up for their kids, telling her father back in November, "Okay na kami, yes, okay na kami. Thank God!"
"Okay na po talaga, Pa, I promise. Basta ang importante, okay kami [para] sa mga bata.”
However, when asked if there is hope that she and Aljur would get back together, the actress said: "It's best for what it is now. Kasi tinitingnan ko rin, in the future, maging friends kami talaga.
"Ngayon kasi, siyempre, after ng nangyari, we're friends, pero there's a distance. Dumidistansya na 'ko kasi siyempre, nagulat ako, pero bilang nanay ng mga anak ko, I have to be civil, try to be the better person, mas mature na tao. Naging klaro lang kung nasaan 'yung priorities niya."
For his part, Aljur has also confirmed that he and Kylie are still in touch despite all the drama that ensued from their separation.
“Sa kabila ng lahat nang nangyayaring ito, constant pa rin 'yung communication namin lalo na kapag tungkol sa mga bata. Tuloy pa rin ang pag-uusap naming dalawa," he said.
At the time, the actor said it was important to remember that he and Kylie were best friends before the controversy involving their split happened.
“Magkaibigan talaga kami. Kung titingnan niyo sa sampung taon na pagkakakilala namin ni Kylie, magkaibigan talaga kami. I think sa 10 years, I know she knows this, we're best friends. Kasi 'yung isa't-isa 'yung takbuhan namin noon,” he said.
On whether he believes that they could go back to being friends, Aljur said: “Yes, oo. Iba lang 'yung sitwasyon ngayon. Pero ako, I'm open kasi hindi mo puwedeng kalimutan 'yung sampung taon niyong pagkakaibigan.”
