Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Patrick Sugui and social media influencer Aeriel Garcia celebrated their first anniversary as an engaged couple over the weekend.
The two exchanged sweet messages on social media as they marked the special occasion.
"Happy Anniversary my love! First anniversary as an engaged couple. I love you! Please stay crazy and funny," wrote Patrick.
For her part, Aeriel said: "11 years and I still have a huge crush on you. Swerte mo. Ay Ko* pala.
"I love you ah. Happy anniversary!!"
It was back in December 2020 when Patrick and Aeriel announced that they got engaged, after dating for more than two years.
At the time, Aeriel posted a video showing the exact moment Patrick asked her to marry him.
"When I asked you to be my girlfriend, I told you na I wasn’t just doing this to have a girlfriend. I was looking for someone that I can marry and can love for the rest of my life,” Patrick was heard saying in the video, as Elton John's "Your Song" played in the background.
“And today, I want to fulfill that promise," he then said, before going down on one knee and asking his girlfriend's hand in marriage. "I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
“Yes, babe," an emotional Aeriel replied.
In a recent episode of the podcast Figure It Out, hosted by celebrity couple Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos, Patrick indicated that he and Aeriel have been living together even before they got engaged, as he explained what made him decide to finally propose to his girlfriend.
"Ang laking factor nung nagka-lockdown. Kasi we live together 'di ba? Some would say na mahirap 'yun, 'yung kayong dalawa lang every day lockdown, 'di kayo pwede lumabas. Sinasabi nila magkakasawaan kayo, mag-aaway kayo, 'yung ganun, pero never namin na-feel 'yun during the lockdown. We wake up, tatawanan agad kami. Never kami nagka-struggle," the actor shared.
"So 'yun na, 'yun na 'yung nag-push sa akin na okay na, tatanungin ko na. Gusto ko na talaga, ready na ako," he added.
A week after they announced their engagement, the couple was treated to a surprise engagement party on a yacht by their closest friends. The celebration included Khalil and Gabbi, with superstar couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, Marco Gumabao, Joe Vargas, and Ria Atayde.
They also posed in a Korean-inspired prenuptial shoot by Nice Print Photography in July.
