With her teleserye Viral Scandal finally set to start this month, Dimples Romana said she can’t wait to share the new family drama with the public.
“I’m very, very happy that we’re about to air na. That’s about two days after my birthday so it’s such a great birthday gift for me. I’m really happy that I get to work with a stellar cast and also the creatives, everybody behind the camera they have been working very hard. It’s been tough to come in and out of the bubble kaya mahirap talaga kaya masarap sa pakiramdam kapag mapapalabas ka na kasi finally mapapanuod mo na yung pinaghirapan mo,” she said.
In Viral Scandal, Dimples plays the role of an OFW named Kakay Sicat who is married with three children and comes back home when her eldest daughter becomes a victim of a viral video.
“I’m the mom of Charlie Dizon here. My role is very carefree siya, very lighthearted. But in the same manner, she’s also very strong yet very vulnerable at the same time. Siguro hanggang doon ko pa lang puwede sabihin. More importantly, I think Kakay is really an epitome of a mom who may be flawed, a complete contrast from Maxene Magalona’s character Audrey who is a perfectionist. But they’re both very strong mothers of different kinds of Filipino families,” she shared.
As one of the industry’s most in demand actresses, as well as a successful businesswoman in her own right, Dimples shared how she manages to avoid getting burnout even with an always packed schedule.
“I try to enjoy my own company and I guess the rest of my co-actors will know na minsan talaga I actually have moments where I just want to spend time with myself. Like I try to tune in and listen to my inner voice only because with everything that’s been going on, ang daming mga iba-ibang aspect ang pumapasok sa isip mo, maraming tao ang magbibigay opinion sa mga ginagawa mo, they will want to say something about what your decisions are and choices in life, blah, blah, blah. Because we always project naman what we fear is going to be asked from us.
“Pero ako kasi, I always like to work on myself and iniisip ko kasi yung burnout nangyayari yan kapag nag-iimpose ka ng unrealistic expectations on yourself and in the work that you do. So para maiwasan yun, I try to go with the waves and see where the flow takes me, ganun. Ngayon na-realize ko na parang pahinga ko muna yung sarili ko kasi anyway kapag naririnig mo yung conscience mo saying this is how you’re feeling today, respect that you’re sad today or respect that you’re happy today, Things like that help me avoid being burnout only because alam niyo naman sobrang dami ko ng ginagawa,” she explained.
The 36-year-old celebrity mom said that she actually enjoys her time during lock-in taping even when it means having to be apart from her close-knit family.
“Kasi kid si Alonzo grade one siya, si Callie naman college, eh may panganay pa ako si Boyet (laughs, referring to her husband). Actually being able to spend time with my co-actors and everybody here in Viral Scandal gives me a little bit of space and time for myself. Mas nakikilala ko yung sarili ko and I’m just very grateful to my husband that he lets me get into what other dreams I can achieve for myself other than that of my family. So sobrang laki ng respeto ko rin sa pamilya ko for letting me do that on my own,” she said.
