When asked to star in the 30th anniversary episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya called “Ink of Smile,” which brings to life the story of cosmetic tattooist Edwin Pranada who became known for giving free services to people suffering from alopecia or hair loss, Enchong Dee said he really took the role seriously during their taping.
So kinakabahan ako,” he shared during the MMK mediacon last November 3.
During their first taping day, the 32-year-old kapamilya actor admits he went through three stages of emotions while portraying the role.
“Stressful, pressured, but by the end of it, fulfilled kasi nung nagsimula pa lang, first take pa lang namin ni direk Jerome (Pobocan) sabi ko kay direk, ‘Gabayan mo ko. Tulungan mo ko dito kasi yung responsibilidad na nakalagay sa shoulders natin ay napakalaki at napakabigat’ and sabi ko, ‘I just want to make you proud, I just want to make my company proud, and I just want to make my management proud.’ I want to make myself proud also.
“I think MMK is one of those projects na puwede mong iharap sa mga tao kasi pinaghahandaan talaga so I said I want to make this a really good episode especially since patapos na rin yung taon. I want to end my year with an acting piece so ito siguro yun,” he recalled.
In his latest role, Enchong explained just how colorful the life journey of his character Edwin Pranada is.
“He is someone na hindi talaga nakaramdam ng pagmamahal and for the longest time lagi niyang hinahanap yung pagmamahal na yun from his family. To the point na every relationship he goes through, parang pakiramdam niya failure siya sa relationship because hindi niya alam paano ba magmahal.
It took him a while pero dumating siya sa point na yun.
“I think that’s always the message of MMK na kahit ano man ang pagdaanan natin, hindi matatapos yung kuwento natin hanggang nabubuhay tayo at meron tayong pag-asa na magbago,” he explained.
