When he was first approached to star in online video platform iQiyi’s pilot series with ABS-CBN Entertainment called Hello, Heart, Gerald Anderson said he immediately accepted it after being satisfied with the story presented to him.
“Number one talaga sa akin alam ng lahat yung storya kasi hindi ako naniniwala na yung artista ang magdadala or this love team. It has to be the story talaga. Kapag maganda yung story, kapag may ibig sabihin siya at may mapupulot na values at aral yung audience natin at makaka-relate sila, then job done,” he shared.
In the the iQiyi romantic comedy series, Gerald plays the role of Saul, an emotionless, business-as-usual guy who hires a beautiful and hardworking woman named Heart (played by Gigi De Lana) to pretend to be his wife in order to please his grandmother who has dementia. Saul, being doubtful of Heart at first, decides to watch her every move until he finds himself falling for her.
Gerald shared how he was able to relate to his new role. “Kasi since the pandemic I’ve been venturing into business so dun sa aspeto na yun medyo naiintindihan ko yung stress ni Saul kapag pumapasok sa office, yung determination niya or yung focus niya pag andun sa meeting or to close a deal and how important that is. Kumbaga mas naiintindihan ko siya,” he admitted
With 15 years’ experience in the industry, Gerald said he still strives to always give something new to the audience with every character he takes on.
“I think yun naman yung number one goal ng artista bilang aktor. Kasi people will spend money and time para panuorin ka so you have to change it up. Kailangan lagi silang may bago na papanuorin sa ‘yo. And I’ve been blessed na sa last 15 years ko I’ve been presented with amazing roles na tumatak sa tao and as an actor ang sarap gawin. So there’s always a conscious effort na laging bago ang maipakita mo. Kaya ABS-CBN mahal na mahal ko kayong lahat. Thank you for always believing in me and that’s been my motivation,” he said.
