As one of the most promising talents to join Squad Plus earlier this year, former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate-turned-actress Andi Abaya gets her first major acting role as part of the pilot project of iQiyi with ABS-CBN along with her fellow PBB alumni and love team partner Kobie Brown.

“I was shocked and of course napakalaking honor nito. Napakalaking opportunity nito knowing that we just started in this industry and it’s our first love team project. So those factors really make this project super special. So nagpapasalamat kami sa ABS-CBN, sa Dreamscape, and of course sa partnership namin sa iQiyi. Thank you so much sa tiwala and for believing that we can do this project,” she said.

During the ABS-CBN Entertainment and iQiyi.com partnership launch media conference, Andi admitted to host Robi Domingo that she was currently in love. Last May, she admitted to the press that Kobie was already formally courting her and had already met both her parents. Andi also shared how being part of the series was a good experience for her and Kobie.

“Individually, I think I have grown through this project in a way that I was able to portray a different character. Along with the other artists I’ve worked with in Saying Goodbye, I also learned a lot from them and that adds up to the growth I received in this industry in my career.

“As a pair, since it’s our first love team project, at first I didn’t know paano ba namin puwede pakiligin yung mga tao sa acting na yun. That’s one thing I learned, being able to execute that kilig through acting. It was really fun because it felt natural lang. It felt like Kobie and Andi lang and we really enjoyed. Siyempre may natutunan din ako kay Kobie, yung pag-e-enjoy ng experience na yun,” she explained.

In Saying Goodbye, Andi plays the role of Joni, the childhood best friend of Elise (played by Andrea Brillantes).

“She’s a really happy-go-lucky person. She’s always so jolly. She falls in love with this guy named Vic (Kobie). The one thing that makes my character different is that she was always happy and jolly. Napaka-positive niyang tao. She chooses to look at the bright side. Hindi tulad ng ibang character na may mga downfall. So I guess that’s one thing that makes Joni different,” she explained.

Andi was also grateful to their co-stars Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin who play the lead roles in the series.

“The one thing I learned from Seth and Andrea is to just enjoy the experience. It was an honor working with both of them and nagpapasalamat ako kasi all the cast they made this experience extra special, extra fun, and it’s something that I will forever keep in my heart,” she said.

The 18-year-old Squad Plus member also shared what viewers can learn about love by watching Saying Goodbye.

“For me, love is one of the greatest feelings in the world and sobrang sarap na nabibigay mo yung pag-ibig na unconditional at walang limitation. Kung may mahal kang tao, ibuhos mo yung pagmamahal mo para sa taong yun kasi wala namang masama pag nagmahal ka,” she added.

The original Filipino series Saying Goodbye will be available soon on iQiyi. For more amazing Asian content, users can log in for free or sign up for a subscription (skip ads) at the iQiyi app and www.iQ.com
