After starring in The Housemaid earlier this year, Kylie Verzosa takes on another daring role as one of the stars of the new Vivamax original film My Husband, My Lover.
“I think the premise of the movie is a girl who is torn between her husband and her lover. And the story is unique dahil in some part of the story her husband becomes her lover and her lover becomes her husband and I think yun yung isang very interesting twist ng story. Siguro that’s why it’s called My Husband, My Lover.
“My character wants everything. As Alice gusto niya talaga lahat. She wants her husband and she wants her lover. If she can have both then it’s a perfect world. But as Kylie hindi ko kaya. That’s why naman na-enjoy ko yung character kasi it makes me explore things na hindi ko naman ma-e-explore in real life,” she said.
When the initial trailer for the film first came out, Kylie admitted she did not know how her boyfriend Jake Cuenca would react to see some of the provocative scenes.
“Actually takot ako nung una kasi nung lumabas na medyo na-shock din ako sa trailer so medyo natakot ako sa reaction niya. But surprisingly he was so supportive. And he was so proud of the movie, of the work I’ve done. So sobrang suwerte ko na sobrang supportive niya talaga sa career ko and all the decisions I make. So yun na lang. Hindi na lang niya papanuorin those scenes kasi it’s hard. Tao din tayo so nahihirapan ang tao manuod. But he’s so supportive and he doesn’t give me a hard time. And proud siya ginagawa ko,” she recalled.
Unlike her onscreen role, Kylie said she has never experienced cheating on a relationship or being cheated on.
“Never pa nangyari sa akin na tinanong ako kung nangangaliwa ako kasi as a person hindi ko talaga kaya. Siguro yun yung struggle sa akin kay Alice. Kasi si Alice kaya niyang dalawa sabay so nung inaaral ko yung character sabi ko, ‘Paano niya nagagawa? Paano niya kayang mahalin yung dalawang lalake ng pantay?’ Parang never pa naman nangyari yun,” she admitted.
Counting her intimate scenes with co-stars Marco Gumabao and Adrian Alandy as the most challenging to do, the 29-year-old beauty queen-turned-actress said she really had to immerse herself in her role to be able to pull it all off.
“As Kylie, aaminin ko kinabahan talaga ako dun sa scene na yun. Pero as Alice hindi eh, gusto kasi yun ni Alice eh. Dream niya yun talaga. So as Kylie yes kakabahan ako pero as Alice hindi kasi gusto ng character niya yun. Hindi naman (na-violate) kasi very safe naman yung set, very safe din yung mga limitations na sinet namin with direk. I was really comfortable with Marco and Adrian so may konting kaba siyempre. Pero wala eh, kapag andun ka na talaga in the moment and in your character, mawawala na talaga siya. Si Alice na yung andun,” she explained.
