As one of Vivamax’s hottest new leading ladies this year, Fil-Korean actress Angeli Khang said it is a big blessing for her as a newcomer to topbill two films this year in Taya and Mahjong Nights.
“It’s an honor talaga na second movie ko pa lang nakita na ng tao yung potential ko. Na-appreciate nila not only my appearance but also my acting skills. Sobrang thankful ako na second movie ko pa lang ito na yung nakamit ko and I hope to do more and be successful in the future,” she said.

During the virtual press conference for her film, Angeli shared her thoughts on her being pitted against fellow Viva artist and her Taya co-star Taya AJ Raval.
“AJ is a really good friend of mine. Nung nasa Taya kami talagang supportive siya. Every time na kinakabahan ako sa mga scenes, lagi niyang sinasabi sa akin to do my best para isang take lang tapos na. And she tells me things like somehow I’ll get used to it but she’ll always be there when I need advice and everything.
And pag nakikita ko na kino-compare kami ng tao, sobrang na-da-down ako kasi as an artist, to be honest, we’re all good friends and we know that this is work and this role was given to us. I think we also shouldn’t compare individuals for what they do and support them and if you have something negative to say and you know that it won’t help other people, I think we should keep it to ourselves. Kasi each one of us has their own problems and it’s hard na pag may naririnig ka,” she explained.
Contrary to what people may think, Angeli isn’t shy to admit that she actually looks up to her fellow sexy star and does not want people to compare them with each other.
“To be honest, I idolize AJ talaga. Sobra akong na-sa-star struck kapag nakikita ko siya. Pag kinakausap niya ako I don’t know how to react and how to respond kasi kaya lagi niya akong binibiro to be comfortable sa kanya. I think that she’s a very good artist. Sobrang strong niya. I think she can do whatever I can do kasi before me there was her.
“For me, it’s not a competition kasi this is work but for me to be exciting to people, I promise them that I’ll never let them down. Every movie na makikita nila ako, I’ll do my best para mapakita sa kanila na I deserve to be successful one day,” she said.
As for those who have likened her features to being similar to a younger Angel Locsin, Angeli said she appreciates all the positive comments she gets.
“Nakaka-flatter kapag nababalitaan ko na at nababasa sa mga comments that they adore me and they say na maganda ako even though when I look in the picture I don’t really appreciate myself. Seeing the comments makes my self-esteem higher and thankful din ako na may mga taong nakaka-appreciate sa akin even though I don’t really appreciate myself that much (laughs),” she added.
Mahjong Nights is streaming on Vivamax. Starring Angeli Khang, Sean De Guzman, Jay Manalo, Mickey Ferriols, Arnel Ignacio, Maricel Morales, and Jamilla Obispo.
