Hidilyn Diaz will no longer be participating in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships this coming December.

This was announced by Samahang Weightlifting sa Pilipinas (SWP) President Monico Puentevella citing that Hidilyn feels that she is not prepared for the competition.

"She actually feels that she lacks the training and the focus and she also wants to enjoy her victory in the Tokyo Olympics. She also feels that other Olympians won't be joining the tournament," Monico said in an interview with GMA News Online.

He added, "In other words, she thinks she's not yet ready to compete again. And we understand her decision because it took her many years to prepare for Tokyo."

According to Monico, Hidilyn will instead be preparing for the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games happening in May 2022 and the Asian Games happening in September 2022.

Hidilyn recently returned to Malaysia following a jampacked series of events in the Philippines after she won the Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.

She also recently got engaged to her boyfriend and coach Julius Naranjo. In an interview recently, Hidilyn discussed their wedding plans.

"We’re planning a simple private wedding in Mount Costa in Baguio. The place doesn’t really matter as long as God is there and our loved ones," she said in an interview with Inquirer.

On her dream honeymoon, she relayed,  "I want our honeymoon to be in Europe or any place where we will be away from it all and have time for both of us to plan the future."
