Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that he is already planning for a second season of the hit Netflix show.
In a report by Associated Press, the director relayed that a second season is inevitable after the grand success of its first run.
“I almost feel like you leave us no choice. There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season,” Dong-hyuk said in the report.
He shared that lead star Lee Jung-jae who plays the role of Gi-hun will return in the sequel.
“It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will be back and he’ll do something for the world,” he remarked.
Squid Game made history on Netflix as it set a new record for any series on the streaming platform in its initial debut.
In October, Netflix announced that the series has reached 111 million fans since it was released on September 17. That happened in a span of 25 days only.
