Actress-singer Maris Racal treated her fans to a live performance of her new single "Asa Naman."
Donning a butterfly-inspired dress and matching purple gloves, Maris sang and danced to the pop-rock track, as seen in a video uploaded on her YouTube channel on Thursday, October 7.
The more than three-minute video was produced by Maris's record label Balcony Entertainment.
It was just last month when "Asa Naman" became available on music streaming platforms. A music video for it was simultaneously released on Maris's YouTube channel.
The track, which features a Bisaya chorus, is a collaboration between Maris and her boyfriend Rico Blanco, who co-wrote, arranged, and produced the song.
"It all started when Rico suggested I write an entire song in Bisaya,” Maris said. “It was appealing to me of course, but I was also worried that not everyone would understand it, so after a fair share of discussions (and even debates), I decided that the verses would be in Tagalog and that the choruses would be in Bisaya.”
In an Instagram post, Maris said she's happy that she was able to contribute to the Visayan pop movement which she is a fan of.
"Lumaki akong nakakapakinig ng mga Bisaya songs sa jeep at mga tricycle while strolling in the streets of Tagum, Davao, and Cebu. I was always amazed how they're all so catchy and the lyrics were always witty," she explained.
"I'm forever grateful that I was exposed to this kind of music growing up and happy that now I'm able to contribute in my own little way to the Visayan pop movement which I dearly love."
"Asa Naman" is Maris's newest release after "Ate Sandali" in June.
The track is the second single from the actress's upcoming mini-album under Sony Music Philippines and Balcony Entertainment. A release date for the record has yet to be announced.
