Here's good news for fans of Catriona Gray: The beauty queen and singer is dropping new music this coming Friday, October 8.
In an Instagram post, the Miss Universe 2018 revealed that during her vacation in Australia last May, she collaborated with Sydney-based producer Billy Cabusas, better known as Cabu, to produce a new song.
"So, whilst in lockdown in Australia back in May 2021, I wrote my first song. And when I got out, I went straight to the studio and recorded with Cabu," Catriona said.
"Our international collaboration is releasing in 2 DAYS. I can't wait for you guys to hear."
She added the hashtag #GLOPM, which stands for Global OPM, and tagged the Instagram account of Warner Music Philippines, her record label.
In the comments section of her post, Cabu wrote: "Can’t wait for y’all to see this!"
Cornerstone Entertainment, the agency that manages the career of Catriona, made a similar announcement on its social media pages, along with a clip from the beauty queen's recording session with Cabu.
Earlier, Catriona told fashion magazine Mega that she plans to focus on her music career this year.
Referring to her titles, she said: “I am looking forward to adding 'songwriter' and 'performer' to that by the end of the year."
Catriona, 27, rose to fame after winning the Miss Universe pageant in 2018, making her the fourth Filipina to bring home the coveted crown.
Since then, the Filipina beauty queen—who studied Music Theory at the Berklee College of Music, the prestigious arts school in Boston—has been vocal about her plans to pursue a music career.
In 2018, she released an original song, titled "We're In This Together," for the children's welfare organization Young Focus. Two years later, she and her boyfriend Sam Milby dropped an acoustic version of the song as part of a fundraiser.
In April this year, Catriona collaborated with R&B artist Jay R to record a fresh rendition of the '90s hit song "Angel of Mine." She also released her own version of “R.Y.F. (Raise Your Flag)", a song inspired by her own patriotic words during her Miss Universe pageant journey.
