Actor and comedian TJ Valderrama is the latest celebrity to be revealed as an official housemate in the upcoming “Pinoy Big Brother” Season 10.
TJ, 35, will join volleyball star Alyssa Valdez, online sensation Madam Inutz, and singers KD Estrada and Anji Salvacion in entering the famous yellow house once the new season of the hit reality show starts.
Former Pinoy Big Brother: Otso housemate Lou Yanong delivered the news to TJ on Kumu, who was equal parts shocked and emotional.
"Unang una salamat po Kuya. Thank you so much for this chance. Minsan lang 'to, once in a lifetime na chance. Maraming, maraming salamat," he said.
"Hindi ko alam honestly kung anong ine-expect ko sa pagpasok sa Bahay ni Kuya," he added. "Pero I'm hoping na I can build relationships doon, magagandang friendships na pwede kong i-cherish sa paglabas ko. Gusto kong i-enjoy 'yung experience na nandoon ako."
After Lou exited the frame, TJ addressed his viewers to express his gratitude and ask them for continued support.
"Naloka ako doon. Grabe. Kasi ito 'yan eh, para maintindihan niyo. Hindi sa amin talaga sinasabi kung pasok kami o hindi. Basta mag-o-audition kami, dadaanan namin 'yung mga steps, 'yung tests, 'yung mga requirements, pero walang assurance na makakapasok kami. So sabay sabay nating nalaman ngayong hapon na isa na pala akong official housemate sa Bahay Ni Kuya," he said.
"Isang step 'to closer sa aking pangarap. Thank you, thank you so much sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin ngayon...Sana tuloy tuloy pa rin 'to, tuloy tuloy niyo pa rin akong suportahan. Mahal ko kayong lahat."
TJ, dubbed "Ang Laughter Lodi ng Manila", was a finalist of It's Showtime's hit segment "Funny One." He was also part of the musical play A Game of Trolls staged by the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) in September 2017.
Prior to this, TJ appeared in the iconic sitcoms Home Along Da Riles and Bida si Mister, Bida si Misis. He also was part of the 2003 series Basta’t Kasama Kita and Studio 23's variety show Rush TV in 2007.
TJ was most recently seen in Hoy Love You starring Joross Gamboa and Roxanne Guinoo in January, where he played the role of Drew. His other projects include Touch Screen, John En Martian, and Unforgettable.
The newest season of PBB will feature three editions, beginning with the celebrity edition, followed by the adults, and finally the teens.
Earlier, ABS-CBN executive Laurenti Dyogi said they didn't do a cattle call for the celebrity audition. Rather, they invited the ones they feel will be "good" celebrity housemates.
He added that the process for the celebrity edition differs from those of the teen and adults editions. For the whole month of September, the PBB team held an audition for the adults edition, which was open to ages 20 to 40.
Meanwhile, auditions for the teen audition, which is open to ages 15 to 19, will run from December 1 to 31.
Those who want to become a PBB housemate only need to download the Kumu app, create an account and upload a minute-long clip about themselves and why they deserve to be housemate. They also have to use the hashtag #PBBKumuAdults.
As of this writing, ABS-CBN has yet to announce when the Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 will begin.
