Former Pinoy Big Brother: Otso housemate Franki Russell is one of the aspiring candidates of the upcoming Miss Universe United Arab Emirates.
The former PBB housemate has passed the application process and is now part of the top 300 of the pageant.
"I am so inspired by everything this pageant stands for. Diversity, celebrating women from all walks of life, empowerment and breaking stereotypes. Stepping out of my comfort zone never felt so good," she posted on her Instagram page on Friday, October 15.
Prior to her announcement on Friday, Franki also addressed fans on why she is joining a pageant in another country.
"It may not be the flag you prefer, but I am so excited because this particular pageant [represents] a lot more than that,” she said.
The former PBB housemate also extended her gratitude to those who expressed support for her.
"To those who have shown their support, I see you and I feel so blessed," she remarked.
Franki is currently based in Dubai, UAE.
The Miss Universe UAE pageant will be held on November 12 and it's the first in the country.
"I could not be more pleased to welcome the very first representative from the United Arab Emirates to our globally televised event. The UAE is making a very important time in its history, from the signing of the Abraham Accords, to hosting the World Expo and there has never been a better time to shine a spotlight on the women residing in this country," Miss Universe Organization President Paula M. Shugart said in a press conference in Dubai recently as reported by TFC News.
Filipino entrepreneur and writer Josh Yugen of Yugen Events has been tapped by the Miss Universe Organization as its partner in UAE.
