Scream was responsible for revitalizing the slasher genre when it first premiered in 1996. Directed by horror master Wes Craven, the movie broke box office records and was followed by sequels Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011).
The new Scream is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, based on the characters created by Kevin Williamson.
