Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell return in new ‘Scream’ installment

Courteney Cox (Friends), Neve Campbell (Party of Five, House of Cards), and Dave Arquette (Cougar Town) are returning to the Scream franchise with a new installment. The last time Scream was in theaters was in 2011 (Scream 4).

The three stars are reprising the roles they first took on in 1996: Neve as Sidney Prescott, Courteney as Gale Weathers, and David as Dewey Riley. Also in the cast are Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

Twenty-five years after a series of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and targeted teenagers to resurrect the town’s secrets. The new spate of killings forces Sidney, Gale, and Dewey to return and confront the killer and their past.

Scream was responsible for revitalizing the slasher genre when it first premiered in 1996. Directed by horror master Wes Craven, the movie broke box office records and was followed by sequels Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011).

The new Scream is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, based on the characters created by Kevin Williamson.

Scream opens in Philippine cinemas January 2022.
