When he was first offered a role in director Darryl Yap’s 11th film Ang Sarap Mong Patayin, actor Kit Thompson said he did not hesitate to accept the role.

“Yung first reaction ko it’s different, I’ve never done it before. Hindi ko pa nagawa dati. Usually kasi pag ganun gusto ko gawin eh. Yung mga hindi ko pa nagagawa yun yung mga gusto ko gawin so I was really excited to do the project and it’s really different. I guess dun ako na-attract talaga. Sobrang iba nung story and I haven’t done a rape scene. Basta ang dami kong first time na ginawa dito sa film na ‘to na hindi ko pa nagagawa anywhere else. So it was a good experience overall and I’m very happy,” he said.

After working with director Darryl Yap, Kit said he admired how they shot the film.

“Si direk is part of the reason bakit tinanggap yung project. When they gave the project, he knew exactly what he wanted, what he wanted to do with this movie. Si direk sobrang specific eh. He’s so detailed and so specific in his vision and yung part na nagustuhan ko sa kanya is he’s so creative. Hindi niya hinahayaan yung ibang tao to affect his creativity and even the same pag filming on the set, he’s very specific with what he wants pero hindi naman siya sobrang strict. Masarap katrabaho si direk and I don’t think yung mga controversies or like what people say about direk affected (him). Kasi first time ko siya nakatrabaho eh so my first impression of him, I don’t judge right away and working with him actually I’m happy kasi ang ganda nung kinalabasan nung project, Preview pa lang maganda na,” he said.

After finding out that some critics already had preconceived notions about the film based on its gory scenes shown in the trailer, Kit said, “To quote direk Darryl on this, ‘It’s not a movie for everyone talaga.’ We know yung humor, it’s different. And kaya ko rin tinanggap kasi iba ito, hindi ko pa ito nagagawa. This is fresh, this is new. It’s a collaborative experiment. Kung maraming negatives (na comments) it’s only helping us more, tinutulungan niya yung project, like people are commenting. Yun naman ang gusto mo di ba? When you make a movie you want people to react. Kasi kung wala silang reaction eh di wala it’s boring,” he explained.

Kit also shared why he feels their film is worth watching especially in this day and age of social media dating. In the film, he plays  a sexy gym trainor who gets catfished by two friends played by Lassy Marquez and Ariella Arida.

“When you watch the movie makikita mo yung story na itong dalawang magkaibigan may balak na masama and ipapakita yun throughout the movie kung ano yung mangyayari and what the outcome could be like catfishing. Ang daming tao nag-ka-catfish for whatever reason they please. Some to extort money, some para lokohin ang tao or take advantage of them. Itong mga eksenang ‘to will show people na that’s not right and makikita yan. At some point in the movie medyo maguguluhan yung viewers kung parang maaawa ba sila kay Ariella at kay Lassy dahil sa nangyayari sa kanila? Pero bakit din sila nandun sa situation na yun? So I guess dun mapapaisip yung mga viewers about the movie for sure.

Sarap Mong Patayin is now available for streaming in Vivamax . Starring Lassy Marquez, Ariella Arida, and Kit Thompson. Directed by Darryl Yap.
