Jake Cuenca was arrested by authorities after his SUV allegedly bumped a police vehicle on Saturday night, October 9, in Mandaluyong City.
In a report by DZBB Super Radyo, Eastern Police District (EPD) director Police Brigadier General Matthew Bacay said that the actor's SUV bumped the said police car around 9 pm. He added that they had to chase Jake's car because the actor did not stop when the incident happened.
The police will be filing a complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property against Jake.
Jake was allowed to leave the police station to undergo a medical checkup.
The actor's SUV is now in the custody of the authorities. The police said that nothing illegal was found inside Jake's vehicle.
According to the police, a bullet was fired during the car chase aimed at the SUV’s tire. But the said bullet also hit a Grab driver.
"In the course of the chase nila, 'yung mga personnel natin had to disable 'yung sasakyan, pinaputukan 'yung gulong. May tinamaan na Grab driver," Bacay said.
He added, "Very unfortunate 'yung incident. Siguro 'yung mga personnel natin mataas pa 'yung adrenalin because ongoing 'yung operation natin, nakahuli ng marijuana doon sa Mandaluyong. And then this is a very unfortunate incident. Walang may gusto nito."
The Grab driver is now in stable condition after being treated at the hospital.
Jake's father, who arrived at the Mandaluyong Police station on Sunday, October 10, stated that the actor panicked and got scared that he drove his car away from the police. He added that Jake had no intention to drag the police into a car chase.
