Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber expressed happiness over the success of their movie "Princess DayaReese."
On "iWant ASAP" on Sunday, January 3, the onscreen couple dubbed "MayWard" thanked all those who watched and supported their film.
"Unang una, maraming block screenings from the fans. Super super grateful kami ni Maymay na we were able to drop by a few, at mamayang gabi meron pa," said Edward.
"Even in the middle of a pandemic they're still supporting us the way that they did noong wala pang pandemya, So maraming maraming salamat, MayWard family. The support that you gave us in 2020 didn't stop in 2020, it continued over to 2021. We love you so much. Thank you so much, MayWard family."
Maymay, for her part, shared that shooting the film amid a storm and the COVID-19 pandemic was certainly a challenge, but added that it was worth it, "kasi nakita namin na sulit nga para sa inyo 'yung movie at masaya kayo, nag-enjoy kayo."
"Sa lahat po ng MayWard family, Team Edward, Team May, thank you po sa pa-block screening niyo. Grabe kayo, kahit sa panahon natin ngayon, naghihirap tayo pero binigyan niyo pa rin kami ng importansya sa buhay niyo. Sa pagsisimula po ngayong bagong taon ay talagang binigyan niyo kami ng parte sa 2021 para mapasaya po kayong lahat," she said
In "Princess DayaReese," Maymay plays Reese, a con artist from Manila who dreams of living like royalty. An opportunity arrives in the form of Princess Ulap, a runaway princess from the mysterious kingdom of Oro, who looks exactly like her.
Switching places in exchange for gold, Reese flies to Ulap's kingdom where she meets Caleb -- played by Edward -- a young and determined reporter who is doing a documentary on the island of Oro. The road to happily ever after becomes bumpy when the man in search for truth begins to fall in love with the fake princess.
The movie is directed by Barry Gonzales, the same director of the last movie the love team appeared in, 2018’s “Fantastica.”
During the "iWant ASAP" episode, Maymay and Edward were also teased by their co-stars about their kissing scene in the movie.
"'Yung ending, 'yung eksena na nag-kiss sila na may pa-drone shot na palayo, andoon ako nun eh. Kitang kita ko, ramdam ko 'yung nafi-feel nila na parang totoong totoo, eh," said their co-star Neil Coleta.
Meanwhile, their co-host Robi Domingo, said: "Sa comment section sa chat room, sinabi ni Maymay na, 'Totoo ang kiss namin offcam.' 'Yun ang sinabi niya before we went live. Maymay, 2021, kami ba'y nagsisinungaling o hindi na sinabi mo 'yun?"
To which Maymay only replied, laughing, "Kuya Robs, choppy ka."
