Pinoy music icon April Boy Regino's life story will be turned into a biographical movie.
The film has a working title of Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin and it will be inspirational according to director Efren Reyes as reported by ABS-CBN News. The movie will be financed by Marynette Gamboa of Waterplus Productions.
Efren and Marynette were close friends of April Boy.
“Sa Mindanao kami nag-bonding. Natuwa ako sa dami ng makukulay na kwento niya. Sabi ko ang gandang gawan ng pelikula buhay mo,” Efren said.
"He sets an example to all aspiring talents in terms of facing struggles. Patunayan mo sarili mo, kahit ano mangyari. He did it on his own, walang nagturo sa kanya. Everything that he aspired for, nagawa niya,” he added.
According to Efren, the biopic will also share how the singer rediscovered God when he was recovering from different ailments such as cancer and diabetes.
April Boy and Waterplus Productions had their contract signing in February 2020.
The film was set to be shot in March 2020 but it was postponed due to the pandemic and the deteriorating health condition of the late singer that time.
April Boy passed away in November last year after battling several ailments in the past years. He was 59 years old.
