Singer Morissette released on Thursday, January 28, a new song cover, much to the delight of her fans and followers.
The "Akin Ka Na Lang" hitmaker dropped the cover video on her official YouTube channel, where she sang an acapella rendition of the hit song "Driver's License" by Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo.
"So I'm back with a cover. I actually really just wanted to focus more on putting out originals now, but this was just too good to pass on," she wrote in the caption of the video.
"I came across Olivia Rodrigo on HSMTMTS (High School Musical is my jam and when I heard about this show, I got curious and decided to check it out) a couple months ago, and when this song hit the charts, I didn't realize it was her at first until I saw her on TikTok. After a few spins, this song, like everyone else, stuck with me so I decided to do my own take on it, but with a twist. Her sincerity and truth are what makes this track a masterpiece, and it's so inspiring," she added.
She then credited her fiancé, Dave Lamar, for mixing and producing the cover video.
As of this writing, the video already has more than 61,000 views and almost 2,000 comments, with most netizens expressing their admiration for Morissette.
"She never disappointed me. She really is the best singer for me, not only because of her vocal ability but also because of how she show her and the song's emotion. She's the best," one fan wrote.
"Kill them with raw singing and heartfelt rendition. Not too much drama but the emotions are on point. Less [acrobatics] but precise placements. Yes, you're definitely born to be a star," another said.
Morissette, who started releasing song covers on her YouTube channel last year, currently has more than 252,000 subscribers.
