Sheryn Regis apologized to her daughter Lourdes \"Sweetie\" Echiverri as she will not be able to attend her 18th birthday in Houston, Texas this coming February.

In an interview in Magandang Buhay, Sheryn explained that she will not be able to travel to the US at the moment.

\"Ngayon na nandito ako sa Pilipinas, it's really hard na malayo sa anak. Eighteen na siya this coming February 11 at wala ako. It's too risky for me kasi feeling ko hindi ako ganyan ka-strong sa katawan. 'Yung stopover namin kailangan dalawa talaga before makarating ng Houston, Texas kaya ganoon. So ang hirap,\" Sheryn said.

The singer underwent an operation in 2016 because of thyroid cancer. The singer is now cancer-free.

Sheryn was able to talk to her daughter on Magandang Buhay via Zoom call. The singer could not help but be emotional as she apologized to her daughter as she will not be able to spend time with her on her 18th birthday.

\"I'm so sorry, Sweet, I won't be there... Thank you for understanding. Kung ibang anak ito, 'Mommy, it's my 18th birthday and you are not here.' She said na, 'Mommy, it's fine, it's fine. I don't want you to risk your health or whatever.’ Naiintindihan niya ako,\" Sheryn shared.

\"Sweetie, I know I'm not a perfect mom, I'm not always there for you. But always remember that I'm here. It's really hard for me to be here and you are there and we can not even talk as in like for 24 hours. I can not do that because we have a different time zone but I still understand and you understand me, thank you,\" she added.

In response, Sweetie told her mother, \"It's okay. There are going to be many more days that you are going to be here with me.\"
