Last year was a busy year for Gretchen Ho who did not let the global pandemic deter her from achieving more goals and helping others especially those affected by the national lockdown. Aside from launching her Woman in Action website, Gretchen also launched a new advocacy with her “Donate a Bike, Save a Job campaign.”

This year, the talented host started off with some self-care as she went through Lasik eye surgery.

From having a grade of 626/600, the 30-year-old host happily shared she now has 20/20 vision. On her Instagram account last January 23, Gretchen wrote about the whole experience.

“FINALLYYYYY. I’ve always wanted to do this but now’s the only time I found time. Had Lasik surgery yesterday with the doctor who operated on my mom’s eyes 20 years ago, Dr. Robert Ang. I felt comfortable and confident, having seen the effects on my mom’s life 20 years later. She was one of the first batches!!

“One of the things that assured me was the thorough testing I went through the day before to know if I was eligible for Eye Lasik. They measure all sorts of details about your eye: thickness of cornea, eye pressure, tear production, etc. All these details go through their tech, and once you’ve passed the test, these numbers are what the computer uses to adjust your grade in the operation!

“Since a lot are asking how it felt, nung una kinakabahan din ako sa operation, but doc was talking to me all throughout! I saw different lights, felt some pressure lang on my eye, but everything was painless! They used anesthesia drops that were strong enough for me to not feel anything. The whole operation lasted 30 minutes. Afterwards, when the anesthesia wears off, medyo masakit lang ulo, may konting uncomfortability sa mata, pero mawawala din pag tinulog mo na. They use bladeless technology kaya until now, I don’t feel any pain. So amazed with how advanced the tech now is!!

“A day after.. my eyesight is a lot clearer, still a bit hazy as my eyes are still adjusting, but I already feel so liberated! The biggest bonus of all: me addressing my fears that the world would end at maubusan ako ng contact lenses 🤣  So for those who are thinking of doing lasik, it’s really a worthy investment! Can’t wait til everything gets 100% clear :)”
