Toni Gonzaga will headline the Philippine adaptation of My Sassy Girl.
This was announced by TINCAN Films, the production company of Toni, on Wednesday, January 20. It was coincidentally the birthday of the actress on the day it was announced.
"In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl," the production company announced.
Fans of Toni were quick to express their excitement about the movie.
"Super love it! Bagay na bagay ang role!" one netizen commented.
"Something to look forward to. Ily Sassy Girl @celestinegonzaga," another netizen said.
The leading actor for the movie has yet to be announced.
My Sassy Girl was first released in South Korea in 2001. It is a romantic comedy movie starring Jun Ji-hyun and Cha Tae-hyun. It became a blockbuster hit in South Korea.
It also became very popular across Asia. It also had several adaptations for movie and for television after its success.
There are no details yet on when the Philippine adaptation of the movie will be released.
